My favorite wander of the world is the Great Wall of China. Its history is more than 2000 years. Why the wall is so great? I think the reasons are not only the length of Great Wall but also its history.
The wall was built since 5th century BC and was extended many times. Its length is over approximately 4000 miles. It is the largest human-made structure. The government of china constantly maintains the wall but it is too large to maintain. Therefore, some parts of the Great Wall collapsed. It needs more donations to maintain it.
The purpose of the wall was to prevent the enemies from north. The process of building the Great wall was very difficult. Many people died during the process. Therefore, there were many touching stories about the Great wall. Please search some stories about it before you visit the Great Wall and you will find how great the Great Wall is!

You have a well-organized, detailed entry. Ididn't even think about the maintance of such a structure. This is certainly one of the greatest monuments mankind has produced.
I also felt that point when I went to The Great Wall of China. (Actually, it's this year.)
If someone went to there and saw this, who does not admit such a magnificient view!!
At that time, however, I thought 'Wow, to maintain the greatest wall is to be really greater works.
